Karsan

Since its foundation, Karsan, leaving 49 years behind in the Turkish automotive industry, has been manufacturing commercial vehicles for the world's leading markets, including its own, in its modern and flexible manufacturing facilities and continues its marketing, sales and after-sales services with its broad network.

Founded in 1966 and operating between 1979 and 1998 under the umbrella of Koç Group, Karsan was incorporated into Kıraça Holding after İnan Kıraç acquired the majority shares in 1998. Manufacturing commercial vehicles with 100% local capital since 1981, Karsan initiated its investments on its manufacturing plant located in Bursa Akçalar in 1998 and manufacturing of vehicles in this facility was started in October 1999. Having today the capacity to manufacture 70,000 vehicles in two shifts and 95,000 in three shifts, Karsan Akçalar Plant has the capacity to manufacture over 100,000 units with additional investments. Designed with the flexibility to manufacture any vehicle ranging from automobiles to trucks and from minivans to buses, Akçalar Plant is located 30 km away from the city center of Bursa and on a closed area of 80,000 square meters and on a total area of 200,000 square meters.

Aiming to provide modern products and services for public transportation in line with its vision of "Limitless Transportation Solutions", Karsan maintains its position as the sole independent multi-branded vehicle manufacturer in the Turkish automotive industry for more than 10 years with its wide product range extending from 5 meters to 18 meters, its experience in the industry, its production quality certified by the world's giants, as well as its skill labor and independent company structure. Karsan, in line with its vision, aims to develop derivatives of new and available products together with its business partners and licensors and to operate in all segments of freight and passenger transportation. In the public transportation segment, carrying out its activities to develop "innovative products and services" and "idea to market" and to make available on market, Karsan aims to strengthen, in particular, the business line of Main Manufacturer - OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). With its strategic partners, Karsan manages the entire automotive value chain from research and development to production and from marketing to sales and after-sales activities. Today, Karsan manufactures Hyundai Truck HD35/75 light trucks under Hyundai license, BredaMenarinibus buses under the BredaMenarinibus license and Karsan JEST under its own brand. Karsan also provides marketing, sales and after-sales services for Hyundai Truck HD Series light trucks, BredaMenarinibus buses and Karsan branded minibuses and midibuses. Aside from manufacturing vehicles, Karsan also offers industrial services in its plant located in the Organized Industrial Zone.

With the strong belief that Turkey must have its own automotive brand, Karsan has developed the model "Concept V1". Selected as the New Yorkers' favorite model of taxi during the tender process, Concept V1 aims to allow the disabled citizens to have access to transportation, to provide comfort and pleasure to passengers and drivers and add a new dimension to transportation. Similarly, the passenger version of Concept V1 enables individuals with limited mobility to travel with their family in their own cars, just like everyone else. Both models - taxi and passenger - have been designed as highly accessible vehicle platforms. With its modern design, Concept V1 has different engine options (gasoline, diesel, EV, CNG).

Manufacturing over 15,000 vehicles, Karsan achieved a turnover of approximately 583 million TL in 2012. Karsan was ranked 7th among the OSD member automotive companies in exports and 3rd among companies manufacturing commercial vehicles, and exports' share in total sales is 71.1%. Karsan aims to have a part in the 75 billion Dollars of export target for the Turkish automotive industry in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic.

According to a research by Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ISO), Karsan ranked 151st among "Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises" and it currently has more than 1,000 employees. Kıraça Group holds 63.46% of Karsan’s shares; while 1.73% is held by İnan Kıraç, the remaining shares approximately 34.81% belong to other shareholders.
